Nevada Issues First License to Internet Gaming Marketing Firm

Last week, the Nevada State Gaming Control Board took the next big step on the road to legalized Internet gaming when it issued its first approval for a marketing company to participate in the Internet gaming industry in Nevada.

While the Gaming Control Board has already approved applications for website operators and game system manufacturers, PokerTrip Enterprises Inc. became the first marketing affiliate to gain approval. In connection with its marketing activities, PokerTrip Enterprises will seek to generate and refer players to those poker websites that are already authorized to operate in Nevada.

PokerTrip Enterprises will receive fees for its services, rather than a share of poker-related revenue generated by its referrals, which greatly limited the amount of review and investigation required to obtain a license. Due to the fact that the investigation and review of entities that will share in poker revenue is so time consuming and onerous, the fee-based payment plan has a significant advantage for marketing companies looking to get involved in what promises to be a rapidly growing vertical.
