Delaware Enacts Internet Gaming Law

pa-sweep-onlineLast week, the State of Delaware passed an Internet gaming law that greatly expands the range of legal Internet gaming options available to people physically located within the State of Delaware.

The bill places online gaming under the purview of the Delaware Lottery Office, but several venues may be able to offer various online gaming options.  Brick and mortar casinos will be able to offer poker, table games and slots, while dozens of other locations can apply for licenses to offer keno to their patrons.  In addition, bars and restaurants that get approval from the Director of the Delaware Lottery Office may be permitted to offer certain sports gambling propositions to customers.

Participation in at least some, if not all, of the contemplated gaming activities may initially require the purchase of prepaid debit cards that can be used to pay for chips, entries or other wagers.  Many of the key details relating to the gaming features remain to be established by the Director of the Delaware Lottery Office.

Unlike the recently passed Nevada Internet gambling law, the Delaware law includes provisions for lottery-style games, keno and sports gambling at non-casino venues.
